Our Kosher Kitchen

Our well equipped, well stocked, and well supervised kitchen serves a lot of functions. In addition to Shabbat Onegs, Sisterhood organizes and prepares food for events throughout each year:

  • Rosh Hashanah - Sisterhood provides cut up apples and honey for the children during Rosh Hashanah services.
  • "Break-The-Fast" after Yom Kippur - Sisterhood shops for and prepares the "Break-The-Fast" meal for the shul. The shul pays for the food and the event is free to all members. We usually provide meals for 150-200 people.
  • Sukkot - Sisterhood provides a special Friday night meal for Sukkot, to be eaten in the sukkah, of course. Sisterhood provides the breakfast in the sukkah for the first morning of Sukkot.
  • Sisterhood provides the Kiddush for the sukkah, usually a cake.
  • Simchat Torah - Sisterhood provides candy and dessert for the evening service (in past years it has been ice cream sundaes).
  • Hanukkah - Last year, we had a Chanukah dinner followed by a wonderful concert. In other years we have just done dessert.
  • Purim - Usually the Sisterhood President provides Hamentaschen for evening and morning service.
  • Shevout - Shevout always coincides with Confirmation - we prepare a dairy dinner.
